Coretta Scott King Forest E-Certificate
Coretta Scott King was a distinguished human rights activist and leader. She devoted her life to social justice, alongside her husband, The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
With her passing in 2006 as a tribute to Coretta Scott King and her message of peace and equality, a section of the Turan Forest in northern Israel was planted in her honor and continues to be cared for to this day. The Coretta Scott King Forest is in addition to a forest that was planted in Israel in memory of her husband.
From the time of her husband's assassination in 1968, King devoted much of her energy to building and developing programs for the Atlanta-based Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change.
King wrote a message to Israel's parliament acknowledging the actions taken by the Jewish state to commemorate her husband: “On April 8, 1968, just before he was killed, Martin delivered his last public address. In it he spoke of the visit he and I made to Israel.
Moreover, he spoke to us about his vision of the Promised Land, a land of justice and equality, brotherhood and peace. Martin dedicated his life to the goals of peace and unity among all peoples, and perhaps nowhere in the world is there a greater appreciation of the desirability and necessity of peace than in Israel.”
While the Coretta Scott King forest has since been completed, with this Certificate you can plant trees throughout the land of Israel while paying tribute to Coretta Scott King and her commitment to peace and justice.
